An Intro to Lichens
Wednesday, March 20 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Laura Boggess, Ecologist and MHU Instructor of Biology and Environmental Science, will share an overview of this fascinating group of organisms. Expect to walk away knowing the answer to such burning questions as ‘Seriously, what are lichens?” and “What the heck are they good for, anyway?”
You’ll learn a bit about the lichens of the Southern Appalachian Mountains, their key ecological functions, and maybe some of their many uses. There will also be an opportunity to hone your basic identification skills so bring a magnifying glass or hand lens (loaners will be available). Bring your curiosity and your questions and be read for a lively introduction to the world of lichens!
This is a free event but we’ll pass the hat to cover the presenter’s expenses.
